our food offer
The Skip Garden Kitchen runs a vegetarian cafe in the daytime but is also available to cater for any of your events in the garden. From delicious light lunches and tea breaks to unique private dining experiences, and movable feasts making use of all the spaces in the garden. All of our food is organic and seasonal and some of it will have been grown in our very own skips. As well as private dining experiences, we run a programme of supper clubs, 2016 dates to be annouced
We are big fans of outdoor fires and using all the spaces in the garden to serve food from and therefore have developed our concept of a moveable feast. This can take many shapes and forms but will usually include some or all of the following elements:
- Cocktails served on arrival from our herb skip
- Seasonal thin crusted pizzas coming hot out of the outdoor pizza oven
- Finger food nestled between the plants in the garden
- Candlelit sit down meal in the polytunnel
- Hot stews served from our mobile cafe bike
- Sweet treats and hot drinks in the yurt
- Roasting marshmallows around the campfire
here's some we've done already
The Crystal Mirror Book Launch
The Skip Garden was transformed into the magical space of this children’s book with dampers and bread making around the campfire, storytelling in the yurt with the author, live drawing with the book illustrator, bat mask making, themed food, and a twilight walk with characters from the book Oswald the Bat and the Cuddliest Monster.
Project Wild Thing
As part of the Project Wild Thing documentary, the Good for Nothing crew organised a weekend long gig at the Skip Garden bringing together 50 creatives to come up with ways to connect kids with nature. We put up a big marquee, groups worked using the whole garden finding inspiration among the plants, eating brain fuelling food prepared by the Skip Garden Kitchen, ending in presentations with real tangible projects to take forward.
Forget male strippers and bunny outfits, this hen party had cocktails and champagne with fresh herbs straight from the herb skip, a 4 course meal in the polytunnel, crafts in the yurt, ending with hot drinks and marshmallow roasting around the camp fire.
Children's Birthday Parties
The garden is a perfect place for treasure hunts, for letting children run around and to play hide and seek. We involve the children in gardening and cooking, making their own pizza toppings to be cooked in the outdoor pizza oven. We also have dry and warm areas for the cold winer months.
Wolff Olins Summer Party
Branding agency Wolff Olins held their company-wide summer party at the Skip Garden for 100 people. We helped them create the space and atmosphere they were looking for around their theme of 'Field Trip', this included a mixologist serving cocktails using herbs from the garden, nibbles throughout the evening, gardening activities and music for dancing. See full case study here.
Imagine your own magical urban garden party in the heart of the King's Cross for your big day. Imagine no longer as our new site lends itself beautifully to convivial outdoor weddings where friends and family can indulge in all day reveling and feasting, dance under the stars and gather around the fire for s'mores and a nightcap from the Herb Skip cocktail bar.
