Family Sundays this Autumn

As a charity, Global Generation’s work depends equally on self-generated income and funding to provide the youth leadership and community development programmes that are at our core. This year the People’s Postcode Trust have supported us in a number of projects including, but not exclusive to, Twilight Gardening and our recent Family Sunday Sessions.

After the overwhelming success of the Family Saturday sessions that ran over the summer we felt encouraged to offer three more Autumn-themed sessions while the days were still crisp and sunny! With families new and familiar, we celebrated the Harvest season, Halloween and the wonders of light and fire through cooking and craft.

Families who attended our Harvest session made donations of dried and canned food items, which were donated to our nearest Trussell Trust Food Bank in Camden.  The food will go a long way to support other families living locally through the demanding winter months.

For Halloween we embraced tradition with pumpkin carving and apple bobbing, whilst the kitchen team prepared a warming butternut squash soup and sweet pumpkin biscuits. Our new neighbours Waitrose donated 15 pumpkins for the occasion.

Our final session brought together themes of fire and light at the end of a week that many celebrated Guy Fawkes Night and Diwali. The pizza oven and campfire were roaring by 10am and families gathered around the table to create their own pizza masterpieces.

We very much hope to continue our work with families living locally in the coming year and we thank the People’s Postcode Trust for their support.
