Working hard for wildlife

The Generators have been working hard to create the Paper Garden wildlife area they designed back in July.

Drilling holes for bees…

Researching what habitats are best for what creatures…

Shovelling soil to create a wildflower meadow and a bee bank…

Creating willow bird feeders…

Lining the pond…

We await the arrival of our native hedgerow and many wildflower plug plants for the meadow and bog area.

They understand the importance of creating habitats for wildlife in the city, places of sanctuary for the creatures that make our world’s natural systems balance. It is fantastic and inspiring watching them find the rhythm of the digging, active and chatting along the way.

This project is being gratefully funded by the Greater London Authority, supporting young people to take social action in their communities. The materials for the wildlife area are being funded by the Newcomen Collett Foundation.

The wildlife area will be opened on the 19th December as part of the Paper Garden’s Winter Solstice Celebration of all for the work contributing to the garden over the past six months. For now, we will continue digging…
