After our winter hibernation, the Skip Garden Kitchen and Cafe reopens with seasonal delights from 2 March 2019.
As crocus buds emerge and daffodils bloom, the Skip Garden Kitchen also awakens for the spring. With a newly-instated Catering Manager joining our kitchen team, who are now reuniting after winter travels from Rome to Vietnam; new flavours, fresh excitement, and a renewed energy are coming to life.
This new power feels particularly apt when remembering that we are moving into our last year at our current site on Kings Cross’ Tapper Walk. The Global Generation sites continue to grow and evolve—the latest addition being The Story Garden at the British Library, which will be built over this spring and summer—and The Skip Garden will be moving at the end of 2019. This means that we’ll be bringing you the most delicious and colourful food and experiences possible over the coming months.
The garden team has already been sowing tomatoes, chillies, and beans, and the salads have over-wintered beautifully in the polytunnel, so our spring and summer menus, changing daily, will include the best of the urban harvest. With the beds no more than 30ft away, filled with organically grown goodness supported by community projects, and other ingredients carefully sourced from organic producers, you can’t get more local, seasonal, or sustainable.
There will be plenty of garden activity (including a fired-up pizza oven!) on the reopening day of 2 March, and we’ll continue hosting all kinds of food, growing, and sustainability events, which you can follow here.
Spaces throughout the Skip Garden, and the whole site, are available to hire, which you can find out more about here.
We look forward to seeing you at the garden soon.
