On Saturday the 13th of July the Story Garden opened its doors to the public as part of the Somers Town Festival.
We opened with a day full of fun family activities, including: seed sowing, carpentry workshop, the big dig, illustrations of Somers Town makers, arts and crafts and a pay-as-you-feel lunch! We were over the moon to see the garden filled with people and becoming the exciting community space we’ve been working so hard to build.
In just over 10 weeks Global Generation has already worked with over 300 volunteers to bring the Story Garden to life. With a massive thank you to everyone who has come to our volunteer drop-in-sessions, as well as volunteer groups from: British Library, Stanhope, CSJV & HS2, Mace, Lendlease Construction, Good Gym, BEIS, Wellcome Trust, Denstu, Semble, BIG Alliance and MUFG, and nearly 40 hard-working young people from: New Horizons, Haverstock School, EGA school and STORE.
There is still a lot to do in this ever evolving new public space!
If you would like to get involved come and take part in our volunteer drop-in sessions:
Twilight gardening and building - Wednesday evenings: 5pm-7pm
Friday afternoons: 2pm-5pm
Family Saturdays - full of child friendly activities: 11am-4pm
