One of the last weeks of August saw the first Holiday Club at the Story. We were joined by 12 local Somers Town and St Pancras children alongside 3 members of staff. We played, made, created, explored and had adventures around the garden and beyond.
Some of the week’s highlights included:
Carpentry with Martina, our Community Build Manager. The group built new planters for the entrance of the garden. They built a rockery with left-over sand and donated rocks, now home to succulents which will begin to flourish in the spring.
Adventures to the secret garden in Regents Park.
Cooking homemade flatbreads with Giorgia, our community chef.
Water fights - soaking ourselves as well as the very thirsty plants.
Harvesting cucumbers and tomatoes for lunch.
Banana pancakes cooked on a fire, fire lighting and a wonderfully successful attempt to collectively light and start a tipi shaped fire.
Stories told by facilitators and participants and a whole lot of fun! If you haven’t played Eagle Eye, it is now a firm favourite at the garden, a favourite for children and adults alike.
And lastly our end of the week showcase to celebrate everyone who attended the holiday club and what they learnt and enjoyed.
