Lela Kogbara currently works part time as an adviser in the field of disability and employment for the Department for Education and NHS England. She is actually a qualified accountant but decided 16 years ago to branch out. Up until September 2016 she was Assistant Chief Executive at Islington Council responsible for corporate policy and performance, equalities, communications, media, arts and culture, employment, adult and community learning, business engagement and community safety.
Most of her professional life has involved tackling inequality in some form or other and this has also been a feature of her private life and she continues to sit on boards that have equality and justice at their core. She came across Global Generation while working for Islington and was inspired by its vision and philosophy, so was delighted when she was given the opportunity to join the board.
