fermented food workshops with alchemy flow

AlchemyFlow take over the kitchen for an evening course on fermented foods for 3 Wednesdays in January and February: Wed 23 Jan, Wed 6 Feb, Wed 13 Feb. All booking info and pricing can be found here.

Run by Darren Ollerton, AlchemyFlow teaches traditional food knowledge and techniques to encourage better health and vitality through living, vibrant foods.

From easing social anxiety, to helping with allergies, sleep issues, weight problems and overall immunity - fermented foods pack a punch. A bio-diverse microbiome means resilient and vital health. At these workshops we teach you how to make highly bioavailable and live foods to support better health and cognition.

Cookery courses are fun and at Alchemy Flow we like our events served with some radicality too. In this workshop, we bring together current research and insights into food, health and healing to show how the simple act of fermenting in the home kitchen may not only benefit ourselves personally but reverberate into wider social, political and environmental realms. Expect an evening of 'blinding statements of rebellion' and 'gut-savvy politics', incorporated with a sound technical education in the fermentation arts and other gut healing methods and techniques.

What to expect on the night:

A platter of fermented foods to share featuring some of the recipes explored throughout the evening.

A fast paced discussion on the importance of fermentation in health empowerment and healing the gut.

A line up of interactive demonstrations that teach you creative ways to ferment using different techniques.

A practical group exercise where we put your fermenting toolkit into action in fermenting some good old fashioned kraut to take home with you.

In this particular workshop you'll also learn how to make:

Kimchi - a complex and fiery Korean pickle.
Skhug - a fermented version of a popular Yemeni 'hot sauce'.
Sauerkraut - a simple ferment of cabbage very popular in Germany.
Pao Cai - Chinese style fermented vegetables.
Fermented Nut Cheese - transforming the humble cashew into a tangy dairy alternative.
Kefir (Milk) - a fermented dairy product.
Kefir (Water) - a simple fermented drink made from water and sugar.

A handbook featuring a range of different recipes!

Ongoing support through email and phone to troubleshoot any issues in your practice.

Take a portion home with you!

A bloody good time!
